Psychotherapy in English

A long term form of a treatment based on analyzing the causes of the difficulties that the patient is going through. It is based on a relationship between the patient and the therapist, but also analyses the feelings and the mechanisms standing behind the individual’s experience and attitude towards life, the outside and inner world. Psychodynamic psychotherapy considers unconsciously aspects of the sources of these difficulties. Psychotherapy leads to increasing knowledge and extending the emotional skills of the patient. As a result of this treatment, the patient is going to be able to enhance the sense of impact on their own life. Psychodynamic psychotherapy seems to be the most complete and the most promising method of a treatment. It favours the construction of a mature personality, and by extending the field of consciousness leading to living a more conscious and satisfying life.
Unlike other methods, psychodynamic therapy covers a broad spectrum of psychopathology, i.e. the difficulties with which patients report. The psychodynamic effectiveness is scientifically proven in the treatment of psychotic, anxiety, affective disorders, personality and eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia) and various complex emotional difficulties, including those related to the experience of psychological stress. Long-term American (Shedler) and Polish (Kalita) studies confirm that the changes concern not only the reduction of symptoms, but also assume basic changes in the field of interpersonal and social functioning.
